GP training in the Netherlands

In the Netherlands, the GP has a central role within the healthcare system as the first point of contact for all physical and mental health problems. Everyone in the Netherlands has their own GP. A GP has had 3 years of GP Specialty training after 6 years of basic medical training. You can train to become a GP at 7 different GP training centres, all affiliated with a university medical centre.
