GP Specialty Training Alliance

In the Netherlands, GP training is provided at seven training centres at seven University Medical Centres across the Netherlands. These centres collaborate closely in the GP Specialty Training Alliance. The demand for new general practitioners in the Netherlands is high and will only grow in the coming years. Together, we strive to train competent, resilient, future-oriented general practitioners in the Netherlands.

  • Skilled. We train GPs with the right medical knowledge and skills. That alone does not make a modern GP. They must also be able to deal with changing care demands, the dynamics of managing a general practice and their role in the region.
  • Resilient. We train GPs who are flexible, proactive and take control. To this end, we focus the training on the 7 competencies in our competency model.
  • Future-oriented. We train general practitioners who are future-oriented. The training is designed to enable them to develop the ability to respond to and direct changes in society, technology and new scientific insights.
  • For everyone. We aim to provide enough GPs to meet the national healthcare demand. A suitable GP for everyone, in every location in the Netherlands.

Alliance

The Alliance provides high-quality training, shapes innovation and deals uniformly with the academic challenges we face. We are jointly responsible for ensuring that all general practitioners in the Netherlands are well-trained.
